This has been a fairly trying week for the Magician’s Wife. However I have learned a few things despite the craziness life throws at you from time to time.
I have learned:
-You’re not going to live forever
-Playing Cards are a serious business
-Cinderella said it best that “New shoes can change your life”
-There is nothing better than witnessing pure love and joy on a loved one’s face
This past week has proven that immortality does not last physically no matter what. I know this because my great-grandmother Rosella past away at the young age of 95. Of course, we knew this day would come and she did put up a good fight at the end. However, she has drifted off to the Wild Animal Park up in the sky this week.
I remember she would give us memberships to the Wild Animal Park or the San Diego Zoo for our birthdays every year until I was probably 13. Then she would write me a $10 check every year after that. She was a good hearted lady, even though she had about a zillion Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, she had a special place in her heart for all of us.
I know she really enjoyed all forms of entertainment, I wish she could have seen more magic shows, I think she would have really liked that. Oh well, hopefully I’ll be able to live a long, healthy life like she did.
Anyway, another thing that happened this week: New Playing Cards were released…
Never in my life would I have thought that playing cards were as serious as they are. Sure, we have THOUSANDS of decks of playing cards in our batcave (yes, batcave) but had I not been involved in the Magic Community, I would think these people were nuts. I mean really? Playing Cards are like the mainstream Cabbage Patch Kids or Tickle Me Elmos..Especially NEW playing cards with a metallic design and everything. Needless to say, I love my job and I get to interact with a bunch of cool and different personalities, but big releases like this make me a slave to the MacBook. Really. A slave. I have a grand total of 500+ emails regarding playing cards alone this week.
Since I am fortunate enough to have a husband who knows when I need a break, he made me go to Disneyland and bought me some beautiful Yves St.Laurent dress shoes.. I know, I know.. “poor me”… But then you need to ask yourself, was I really that big of an a-hole that my husband kicked me out of the house to go to my favoritest place in the whole world and then 4 days later buy me some shoes I’ve wished on the evening star for for 3 years just to see something on my face other than a scowl or frown.. yeah…hmmm….either way, I’m lucky and I have some really pretty shoes that will never go out of style.
Speaking of my magician… I am so happy for him. He is so excited about magic and life now that I can’t do anything but love him and know that even though I’m having a tough time right now, I’ll always have a great teammate.
He has shown me magic tricks every night this week (strange, but oddly awesome). I look at him and laugh, but I know that he is really starting to stop and smell the roses a little more. In fact, I have had seen more magic than a night at Cal Magic Dinner theater…except he’s doing his own tricks….
The other entertainer in my life has kept my magician husband pretty busy this week, which is tough but I understand. There is a lot to be done at the warehouse of wonder this week. I went to the husband’s workplace this week and I must say, even though I find it hard to admit, but the tour gets better every time. Which is inspiring in its own way to me.
Until Next Week.
Love,
Katie
